I’m the Regional Director for Operations in the Midlands.
In my 17 years here, I’ve done a variety of jobs and progressed upwards through the organisation. I have always felt supported, every step of the way.
Highways England does a lot to support women. There is an active women’s network that has been running for a few years, and I personally coach a few female colleagues. It’s really great to see that network growing and see women getting on. One of the things I like the most about the network is that men join in as well. It's not just about promoting and developing women, it’s about promoting and developing everybody.
The main purpose of Highways England is to maintain and improve the Strategic Road Network and that’s really important to me. Everybody uses the roads in one way or another, be that as a pedestrian or a driver. The work that we do improves people’s lives on a daily basis.
We are leading the way in safety, both for road workers and for road users.
My Highways England
I’ve found Highways England to be forward thinking and a great place to work. People in Highways England are really friendly and supportive as well as challenging, which is absolutely appropriate. I love coming into work in the morning and not knowing what’s going to crop up or who I’m going to interact with. I always go home at the end of the day feeling like we’ve really achieved something together.
